Geo-breads 2007
Annual Grade 5 “Geo-Bread” Project
Once again grade 5 students all came together to build gingerbread houses. These houses are called “Geo-Bread” Houses since they are actually an extension of the Math grade level curriculum. Students spent several math classes working on their house plans. Skills that they have worked on, such as measurement, area, perimeter, fraction operations and polygons came into play. Each student had an extensive list of requirements to meet during the planning stages, right down to the designing the decorations to meet specific geometric shapes requirements. The actual building day was a great community event, dozens of students working on their ‘Geo-Breads’ while teachers and parents lent their support.
