Chinese New Year
During the month of January students in grades K through 5 learned about Chinese New Year during Art classes. Chinese New Year is the most important festival, or celebration, in China. The date varies because it is based on the lunar calendar. This year Chinese New Year began January 29th. Students learned about the customs associated with Chinese New Year as well as the Chinese Zodiac, and the 12 animals represented in the zodiac. Each year a different animal is celebrated. 2006 is the year of the dog!!
